Importance of gaining experience
Gain Experience
Finding private investigators, law firms, or insurance
companies that will allow you to work under them for a period of time is
the best way to gain experience. This work may be menial and it may have
to be done for free, but the experience gained is invaluable. Not only
will it help you to better understand more about the law and private
investigation, the experience will also look good on your resume when
seeking clients.
Police and military experience is also helpful in gaining experience,
though it is usually not required for state licensing. This experience
is helpful, in part, because it helps you learn how to file reports and
perform interviews. Also, these types of experiences help give you a
trained eye for suspicious activity and for noticing details.
Having police or military experience also helps win over clients, who
often feel more comfortable hiring a private investigator with a more
extensive background in the field.
